Tiffany had started to become resigned to the fact that she was just going to be alone on her couch forever. Prince Charming hadn't shown up on her doorstep like she had hoped. She would begrudgingly have to leave the comfort of her couch if she wanted to meet someone - at least that is what her friend, Alison, kept telling her. So, she decided she was going to practice law and close real estate transactions and travel the World! Forget online dating or going out alone to meet strangers.
Then, while watching a Hallmark movie one night she thought, "Why can't it be that simple?"
In her case, she never left her hometown so she couldn't ‘come home’ to save the family business and just happen to bump into the love of her life. It just wasn't going to happen.
Then she started thinking more analytically, "Where would the man of my dreams be? I know!! He would be at Home Depot or Lowe's!"
She needed to get out of Clinton so she took off to Lowe's in Smithfield one day and there he was! Jay. In his ballcap, Southern Inspired Homes t-shirt, and cowboy boots - looking so handsome. She pretended to need help with something and he was excited she had asked. They hit it off and went to dinner and drinks that very night! They have been inseparable since!
Good story, huh?!?!?
It's not true!
Tiffany was in fact tired of waiting for Prince Charming to arrive on her doorstep so she begrudgingly decided she must try an online dating app and decided to try Bumble this time. She had tried others before but was never successful (she never tried very hard - who has time for that mess?). She never even went on a date with anyone from an app in the past. But the timing was just right and she matched with Jay after about 7 weeks on the app. They matched on March 30, 2024 and went on their first date April 5, 2024. And they have been inseparable since.
On Bumble, the lady is suppose to message the gentleman first. When Tiffany came across Jay's profile, she was impressed but his profile picture showed him shirtless on the beach with his big arm tattoo shining. Tiffany is old-fashioned and was wondering why in the world someone would want a tattoo of a lighthouse on their arm. She took a screenshot and sent it to her friend asking "why does everybody have to have tattoos?" (A lot of the people on the dating apps even have full sleeve tattoos). Everyone told her she had to drop some of her requirements and try something she wouldn't normally try so she swiped right. And so did Jay.
Jay was a little unsure about Tiffany as well because she was an attorney and she went to bed early - like really early. He would message her leading up to the first date and she would chat for a few minutes and then say she was going to bed. On their first date, he expected her to show up in a Mercedes SUV and act a little pretentious. Lo and behold, she rolled up in a 2014 Tahoe with a cracked dash and scratches all over the hood! He would later put a container of Tic Tacs in the cracked dash to prevent it from rattling.
After a month of dating, Jay was crushing hard but was still not so sure if their lifestyles would mesh. He was at Tiffany's house one night and she FaceTimed her mom to talk with her nephew and tell him “Happy Birthday.” Tiffany's dad was in the background and started talking to her. It was at this very moment that Jay knew it was all going to work out. Not only did she not drive a Mercedes, but her dad is as country as a ham biscuit and talks like Godwin from Duck Dynasty! Jay knew then that they were a perfect match!
